Why I Love This Spiced Smoothie Recipe

I love the vibrant pop of color this smoothie brings to my morning. Beets are incredible for circulation and natural energy, and when paired with mulled spices like cloves and ginger, they lose their earthy taste and become something truly sophisticated and delicious.

What’s Inside: The Powerhouse Ingredients

This isn’t just a delicious drink; every ingredient in this Red Beet Smoothie Recipe was chosen to give your body a specific boost:

  • Raw Beets (Fresh or Frozen): High in dietary nitrates, folate, and potassium, which help support healthy blood flow and natural endurance. Beets are low in calories but very nutrient-dense, helping to reduce blood pressure, fight inflammation, and aid in digestion.
  • Orange & Lemon Juice: A massive hit of Vitamin C to support your immune system during the changing seasons.
  • Ginger & Mulled Spices: Cinnamon, cloves, and allspice provide anti-inflammatory benefits and a warming, festive flavor.
  • Flaxseed and Chia Seeds: Adds a dose of Omega-3s and fiber to help slow the absorption of fruit sugars.

Notes

Beet Prep Instructions:
  • This recipe is intended to be used with raw frozen beets. Simply wash, peel, and roughly chop the beets into smaller pieces. Then add the beets to a Smootheeze freezer tray along with a splash of water and freeze overnight to make 1/2 cup portions that are easy to pop into the blender.
  • You may find there is a slightly pulpy texture when using raw beets. If so, microwave or boil the beets first until very tender. Let cool and then add to your Smootheeze freezer tray.
Flavor Notes:
  • Beets pair well with mulling spices and can tolerate a large amount, as they bring out the sweetness of the beets. Feel free to double the spice amounts to enjoy an extra dose of fall flavors.
