Smootheeze Easy Banana Freeze Tray Tips

Let’s talk about the easy freeze banana tray, the true hero of the bunch. This is what kicked off the whole Smootheeze craze.

Here’s how to freeze bananas like a pro:
✅ Prefer banana slices? Go for it—they’re perfect for small smoothie portions, desserts, baking, or even topping your oatmeal.
⚠️ PSA: never use sharp knives with your trays. Silicone is incredibly tough, but not invincible. Stick to dinner or butter knives or other dull tools.
❄️ Freeze for at least 6 hours and use within 4–6 weeks for the best taste and texture.

For the Smootheeze Easy Freeze Smoothie Prep Tray:

Now onto the cube trays—aka your ticket to smoothie creativity.
Now, here’s the truly fun part—get creative!
✨ These trays help you waste less by freezing produce sitting in your fridge before it goes bad.
✨ You can buy in bulk to save money and meal prep like a smoothie wizard.
✨ Try freezing all kinds of veggies (spinach, kale, cauliflower, sweet potato, beets, carrots, and pumpkin); any fruit under the sun (go beyond the berry with a rainbow of tropical fruits, watermelon, and citrus); even freeze liquids like coffee and tea, coconut milk, or homemade concoctions like flavored creamers and immune boosters.

Once filled:
👉 Press on the lid, push out the air, and lay flat in the freezer.

They’re leak-proof, but flat is key so juices freeze evenly. Once frozen solid, store however you like—even vertically!

IT’S BLENDING TIME!
When smoothie time hits, pop out your portions and toss ‘em in the blender. Some cubes might play hard to get—just twist the tray to loosen them up, then slide them out.

Tips for Maintaining Freshness

  • Snap it shut: Press the lid firmly around the edges until it locks in place.
  • Air out: Lift a corner of the lid to press out any trapped air, then re-secure the lid.
  • Prevent frost: Smootheeze trays keep ingredients separated, but condensation can still lead to ice crystals. Here’s how to reduce that:
    • After cleaning, let the trays dry completely, or store them in the freezer until ready for use.
    • Drain and pat ingredients dry to remove excess moisture before freezing.
    • Let ingredients cool in the fridge before packing them into trays.
    • Pack ingredients tightly, pressing out as much air as possible before sealing.
    • If you notice ice on the underside of the lid, wipe it off with a towel and quickly resecure.
    • Keep the freezer at a consistent temperature, and don’t leave trays out while blending.

Some frozen condensation is normal, but following these tips will help keep your ingredients at their best for 3-4 weeks.

Deep Cleaning Tips

We find that a quick hand wash with a sponge and soap is enough to get Smootheeze clean and immediately refill with new ingredients. However, over time you may notice a build-up of food odors or stains, or a build-up of soap residue if you frequently clean them in the dishwasher.

If that happens, try one of these deep cleaning methods:
